FAQs
If you have a question about a specific service, you’ll find detailed FAQs on each service page. The questions below cover the logistics of working with me: scheduling, payment, insurance, and what to expect when you reach out.
If your question isn’t answered here, reach out through my contact form.
-
The first step is to reach out through my contact form or self-schedule directly through the scheduling widget on the contact page. If you know which service you need, you can go ahead and book. If you’re not sure, send me a message describing your situation and I’ll point you in the right direction.
-
This depends on the service. Discernment counseling has a specific structure: the first session is two hours and includes time with both partners together and individually. Individual therapy for the unfaithful partner starts with an assessment session where I’ll ask about the affair, your relationship history, and what you’re hoping to get out of the work. The women’s divorce support group begins with a brief intake conversation before the group starts.
In general, first sessions are about getting a thorough picture of your situation so I can tailor the work to what you actually need. I’ll be asking a lot of questions. You don’t need to prepare anything in advance.
-
For discernment counseling and divorce mediation, yes. Both partners need to be present. For individual therapy for the unfaithful partner and the women’s divorce support group, no. Those services are for you alone.
-
Yes. Send me a message through the contact form describing where you are, and I’ll let you know which service fits your situation. If none of my services are the right match, I’ll tell you that too and try to point you toward someone who can help.

I’m generally available Sunday and Monday, 7am to 1pm Pacific Time.
I do not see clients in the evenings. If you need consistent evening availability, I’m not going to be a good fit.
-
I keep my caseload intentionally small, so I usually have availability within one to two weeks. You can check current openings through the scheduling widget on the contact page, or send me a message and I’ll let you know what’s available.
-
No. All of my services are 100% online through secure, HIPAA-compliant video. I’ve been living abroad for almost four years and my practice was built around telehealth from the start.
-
I’m licensed in Oregon, Washington, and Massachusetts, and I hold a telehealth registration in Florida. You need to be physically located in one of those states during our session.

I require a credit card on file before your first appointment. Your card is charged automatically within 24 hours of each session. For the women’s divorce support group, the payment structure is different and is outlined on the group page.
-
I don’t offer free consultation calls due to the limitations of my schedule.
What I’ve done instead is put everything you need to make a decision on this website. Each service page includes a detailed description of who the service is for, what to expect, the pricing, and FAQs. If you still have questions after reading through the relevant page, send me a message through the contact form and I’ll respond by email, usually within 48 to 72 hours but often faster.
-
No. I am not in-network with any insurance company.
-
For individual therapy, I provide a Superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Whether your plan reimburses depends on your specific out-of-network benefits.
For discernment counseling, divorce mediation, and the women’s divorce support group, I do not provide a mental health diagnosis. I include a Z code on the Superbill instead. Some insurance plans reimburse Z codes and some don’t. I’d recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking whether your plan covers out-of-network services with a Z code before your first session.
-
If you cancel at least 24 hours before your scheduled session, you will not be charged. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or miss your appointment without cancelling, you will be charged the full session fee.
-
Yes, but through a separate arm of my practice with its own website. I keep the services intentionally separate so that each client knows the space they’re in is fully dedicated to their experience. Click here if you’re looking for support as the betrayed partner.

Discernment counseling is specifically designed for couples where one person isn’t sure they want to do therapy. It’s not couples therapy, so the reluctant partner isn’t being asked to commit to months of work. It’s a short process (1 to 5 sessions) focused on gaining clarity about the future of the marriage. Many partners who wouldn’t agree to couples therapy are willing to try discernment counseling because it’s time-limited and doesn’t assume the relationship should be saved.
More information is on the discernment counseling page.

No. I can only work with clients who are physically located in a state where I’m licensed or registered during our sessions.

Bridgetown is a nickname for Portland, Oregon, where my practice was originally founded. The name refers to the twelve bridges that span the Willamette River. Even though I now live abroad and work with clients across multiple states, the roots of the practice are in Portland.
