Bring Love Back Into Your Marriage and Meaning Back Into Your Life

Allyson Clemmons, LCSW, LICSW

Struggling in your marriage or experiencing a divorce or significant breakup is incredibly difficult and stirs up intensely painful thoughts and feelings. You likely have some regrets about the past, as well as anxiety and uncertainty about the future.

Your marriage — and your life — may look different than what you previously imagined. The good news is that you don't have to go through this experience alone. I provide support and practical tools to help you either rebuild your marriage into something stronger, or to move forward into a fulfilling life after divorce.

My goal is to help you gain confidence and empowerment in order to take purposeful action towards the life and relationships you want.

What It’s like to work with me

Our work together will equip you with the tools you need to thrive in your relationships and your life.

A lot of therapy out there involves the therapist sitting back and passively listening, but not encouraging real shifts in behavior and perspective. This leaves clients frustrated and discouraged because they don’t see the substantive change they are looking for.

I know how important it is to experience the changes you’re after, whether it’s in your marriage with your spouse or in your own personal healing process.

That’s why the therapy process with me will focus on your emotions and your behavior.

During our work together, you can expect to examine and actively shift the current behaviors and perspectives that are keeping you stuck. I will encourage you to practice new behaviors both inside and outside of our therapy sessions. This might include things like:

  • Communication skills, including how you express your emotions, so that your conflicts and misunderstandings deepen the bond between you and your loved ones instead of push you further apart.

  • Identifying what your needs are in your marriage, friendships, family relationships, career, etc., so that you can articulate those needs and collaborate with others to get them met.

  • Shifting your perspective, validating yourself, and showing yourself kindness so that you feel secure enough to take the initiative to learn, grow, and change.

  • Making life choices that align with what truly matters to you so that your life has purpose, meaning, and joy.

You can expect me to be genuine and inquisitive. I enjoy laughing with my clients. I can also speak directly and tell it like it is (when appropriate).

Our work together will equip you with the tools you need to thrive in your relationships and your life. I’m looking forward to working with you!
